This occasion was officially established in 2009: 7 July marks World Chocolate Day because, on this date in 1847, Joseph Fry created the very first solid chocolate bar as we know it today. Until then, chocolate was primarily consumed as a drink, but Fry discovered that by adding melted cocoa butter to cocoa powder, he could make a mouldable paste that, once set, became a bar—just like our Venchi Chocolate Bars.
